⚠️ Hitch Safety Information
Gooseneck Hitch
The Mustang Truck Bed is equipped with a 30,000 lb. rated gooseneck hitch, built for heavy-duty towing. Before each use, make sure your towing setup complies with all safety standards and confirm the trailer is properly connected and secured. Doing so will help ensure safe operation.
Receiver Hitch
The receiver hitch is rated for 24,000 lb. towing capacity with a 1,800 lb. hitch weight.
There is growing demand for heavier and heavier ratings on receiver hitches. However, it’s important to remember:
The more weight you have on the rear hitch, the greater the potential for reduced control on your steer tires.
We won’t tell you that you can’t tow 24,000 lbs. on the 2.5″ receiver hitches of our beds. The bed is built to handle it.
Nevertheless, the key variable is the driver. Haul smart. Always pay close attention to trailer loading. Ensure the driver has the proper experience, especially when towing at full capacity. Without question, smart hauling practices save lives and equipment.
We want you to haul the big jobs—but more importantly, we want you to stay safe.
Note: Previous beds built with 2″ receiver hitches are not rated at 24,000 lbs. Always verify hitch capacity.
🏗️ Strut the Rear Hitch
To safely support the 24,000 lb. receiver hitch rating, the rear hitch must be strutted to the end of the truck’s frame.
Flat or structural metal should be used, and it’s strongly recommended to position it as close to a 45-degree angle as possible.
Fortunately, pre-cut holes are provided in the upright tubes for quick and easy mounting. Alternatively, you may weld directly to the rear bumper if preferred.
This reinforcement is absolutely essential for both safety and long-term durability.
